Gladys has enjoyed over 20 years experience working in the nursing profession. She has worked as a hospital staff nurse, community health nurse, and outpost/regional nurse prior to her present position as nurse educator. Gladys has been a faculty member in the Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Program for a majority of the time it has been offered and is currently teaching the family & community health promotion component of the program. Her present teaching assignment also involves work as a faculty member in the Bachelor of Nursing (Collaborative) Program and the Licensed Practical Nursing Program. In both of these programs she is involved in clinical education in the maternal child area & community health area. Her teaching experience includes both the Distributed Learning Delivery Mode of teaching through WEBCT and face to face teaching in the classroom.

Gladys' nursing practice includes involvement in Primary Health Care Projects both in St. John's, NL and with the work of the CNS International Office in Central America - particularly Guatemala. The other areas of her community work include work with the Girl Guides of Canada as a leader & camp nurse. Her nursing practice also includes some involvement with alternative healing therapies and she has completed level 5 of the Healing Touch program. Her research interests include nursing education, community health nursing, & spiritual assessment.
