Nurse (RN) Re-Entry Program
The RN Re-Entry Program is an individualized program of instruction designed to meet the needs of
registered nurses in the province who have been out of practice for a minimum of five years or for nurses
who hold current registration but desire a review of nursing theory and clinical practice.
Successful completion of the program allows nurses to reapply for active licensure.
This program is offered by distance and may be completed anywhere in the province.
Program
- Brokered through Grant MacEwan Community College
- Consists of 24 self-paced theoretical modules, a 2-day clinical skills lab and 156 hours of clinical
practice in an acute care setting
- Learners have access to a faculty facilitator when completing the theoretical and lab component of the
program
- Learners work with a preceptor when completing the clinical component of the program
- Exams written after completing each module
- Pass mark is 80%
- Two additional opportunities to rewrite each examination, if unsuccessful
- Learners can complete the program at their own pace but the maximum time limit is one year
Nursing Theory Modules
Learners must complete all
modules in Theory A, B, and C, one specialty module, one clinical
skills module and one clincial skills lab component.

Students have 2 years to complete the entire program.
Program Fees
- Cost of the program is $3,250.00 which includes all materials (modules,
textbooks, readings) and must be paid in full before admission to the program.
- A certificate of Conduct is required for acceptance into the
Program and must be submitted with the initial application. Please
contact your local police force to obtain a certificate. Any fee
associated with this is payable to the police force and, therefore, is
not included in the tuition fee.
Program Completion
When learners have successfully completed the program, they are awarded a certificate from the Centre for
Nursing Studies and Grant MacEwan Community College. The Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and
Labrador is notified that the learner is eligible for relicensure.
